Salinger surfaces for a suit
Reclusive author, J.D. Salinger is suing an author by the pen name John David California who penned a sequel to his magnum opus Catcher in the Rye. The new book, titled 60 Years Later: Coming Through the Rye, features a 76 year-old man named Mr. C. (presumably Holden Caufield), after he escapes from a retirement home. The novel is dedicated to Salinger, who even makes a cameo appearance.
If it makes it, the novel will be published in Britain in the summer and the U.S. in the fall.

CAT scans and infrared analysis are allowing scientists to decipher texts that are too fragile to unrole or discover hidden texts that have been scraped away or simply faded over the millenia. Impeachment ornament selected for White House holiday tree
One of the ornaments selected for the Fraser Fir in the White House Blue Room includes statements by various Congressmen advocating impeachment of the White House's occupants.
Laura Bush asked members of Congress to have local artists create ornaments. Washington State's Jim McDermott chose artist Deborah Lawrence.
"I was at first nauseated, then realized it was an opportunity," said Lawrence, 55, who frequently combines politics and satire in her work and saw this as the perfect way "to highlight Jim McDermott because he's a hero of mine."More on the ornery ornament.

Car pool to the concert and cut the CO2
Wilco isn't the first rock band to encourage their fans to car pool on the way to a concert, but they've provided a facebook application that hooks up drivers and passengers. Transportation to and from concerts is a large contributor of green house gas emissions, so this is just one more way that people can reduce their carbon footprint. Unlike the awkward car pools with strangers that you get through the DOT, this method offers to bring together different people connected by their mutual love of the music. I hope to see this implemented with other music groups in the near future.
